The Resort Hotel is located in the area of Masseria Donnaloia, where were found ceramic artifacts of reddish-brown mixture, referring to the age of metals. The morphology of the Puglia area has, in fact, allowed very ancient settlements, in natural caves. In the second century AD, it was Trajan, who wanted a faster, convenient and safe route of the Via Appia, to reach Puglia and then Brindisi, to go to the East, from Rome in 13/14 days, crossing a land with a mild climate always tempered by the sea.
In Puglia, every about 10-15 Km, they built post stations, which were used to change horses and to restore the travelers.
The road came in Puglia; It approached the sea of Barium (Bari), continued to the coast and after crossing the centers of Neapolis (Polignano) and Diria (Monopoly?),
came to gnathia (Egnazia). Just 10 km from Egnazia, on a small hill overlooking the sea, lies a settlement that, initially dug in the rock (watchtower?),
It saw in later periods overlapping constructions of different style . In this historic rural settlement of Puglia, has been created the Resort Hotel Masseria Donnaloia.
